Nomex® Front Entry
The specification for this drysuit derived from close consultation between South Wales Police and the Northern Diver design team.
The design consists of:
- Front Entry Drysuit manufactured from Nomex® fire resistant fabric
- A luxurious Yamamoto neck seal and Rubbatex wrist seals
- A purpose-designed shoulder radio pocket
- A write-through notebook pocket on the right leg and a map pocket of the left leg
- A Relief Zip
- Kevlar® reinforced padded knee patches
- Fitted latex socks
- ND special Lightspeed 877 reflective printing on arms, zip flap and legs
As standard with many Northern Diver suits, this drysuit was supplied with internal braces, sealed-for-life seams, storage/carry bag which opens out as a changing mat and a maintenance/repair kit.

Nomex® Fabric
Flame resistant trilaminate fabric
Nomex® is in regular use, from racing car drivers to the Space Shuttle crews, its fire resistant properties being regarded as one of the best in the world for clothing.
Two superb properties of Nomex® make it a perfect protective material for people exposed to fire hazards. It is inherently flame resistant and, very importantly, the thick woven structure of synthetic fibres is a very poor conductor of heat. Therefore it takes time for heat to travel through Nomex® giving the wearer time to escape fire and heat hazards.
In conclusion, the tough, woven structure of Nomex® is extremely strong, has high heat resistance, is flame retardant (it doesn’t melt or drip) and doesn’t react with water.
Your Specification, Our Expertise

Once our design team had completed the drawings to the specified requirements, the customer was given the opportunity to review the final suit design prior to manufacturing.
In this case the decision was made to change from fitted boots to fitted latex socks with Northern Diver Safety Boots supplied separately. The radio pocket position was enlarged by 8mm and the design was complete.
Manufacturing took place within the designated time-space and the suits are currently in use with South Wales Police.
