Police choose RBX

September 2009

West Yorkshire Police Underwater Search Unit now use Northern Diver drysuits exclusively. They chose RBX for the obvious comfort and hard wearing attributes of the suit although we also heard more than one team member mention the fact that they thought they looked pretty good too.

These guys do an amazing job, often in very unpleasant conditions. We admire their commitment to the job in hand plus their dedication to training and high safety standards. We are proud that they selected RBX as their drysuit of choice.

Coda Fins

December 2009

Dive magazine review the Coda Fins.

Dive Magazine, December 2009

Split Fins have a way of splitting opinion. Half of Dive staffers prefer the traditional fin design, arguing that they don't want to have to change their finning techniques. The other faction holds that once you've got the knack of using split fins, you'll never look back.

These fins are based on the patented design by Nature's Wing: we found that they performed as well as any other fin on the market, including the highly-rated TUSA Xpert zoom. After being continually used for several months, the polymer they are made from showed no serious signs of wear, and they retained the springy action required for speedy, responsive finning.

A great fin at a reasonable price.

Aquarius Drysuit

December 2009

Dive magazine review the Aquarius drysuit.

Dive magazine, December 2009

Here's a drysuit to appease your inner soldier. Originally produced for the MoD in a fetching dark green, the Aquarius is now available in civvy street, in any colour you like as long as it's black.

So why do the military like it? It could have something to do with its combination of lightweight, flexible material reinforced with Kevlar in the knees and seat. We loved the cross-torso zip, which made it very easy getting in and out of the suit. When we field-tested it off the south coast, it performed superbly in temperatures of 9 degrees C, affording our tester plenty of free movement.

A competitively priced, military-grade treat for British divers.

Northern Diver & Odyssey Join Forces

April 2010

We are delighted to announce that Odyssey and Northern Diver have joined forces to create the largest full service diving facility in the North West of England. With immediate effect, Odyssey will be the Northern Diver official diver training school.

This will bring Northern Diver, one of the strongest worldwide brands in the diving industry, further into the world of recreational and technical diver training. In handling all of the training, Odyssey will continue to maintain the high standards that have been the hallmark of its success so far.

This is a very exciting opportunity for Odyssey, its instructors and staff, which will see Odyssey expand its PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Centre to operate from the Northern Diver premises in Standish, as well as continuing to operate from its well known base in Cheadle Hulme.

This exciting new venture will provide the highest quality diver training in the North West allowing divers from all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside to benefit.

With the backing of the Northern Diver brand, Odyssey will continue to train divers, from beginners to the very experienced, including technical divers and instructor grades as well as provide trips and holidays and expeditions to suit divers at every level.
