Mens Marlin Open Water Triathlon Wetsuit

Designed and developed using more than 45 years of wetsuit manufacturing experience, the Marlin Men’s Triathlon Wetsuit is a high-performance suit engineered specifically for triathlon and open-water swimming.
Building on a proven design with a history in elite triathlon and open-water swimming, the latest Marlin has been completely refined using advanced Yamamoto neoprene, hydrodynamic SCS coating, buoyant Aerodome panels and thermal Ti-Alpha technology. The result is a wetsuit designed to help swimmers move efficiently through the water while providing the flexibility, buoyancy and thermal protection needed for training and competition.

Engineered for Efficient Movement
The Marlin uses a combination of Yamamoto #39 and #40 neoprene with a Super Composite Skin (SCS) coating. SCS creates a hydrodynamic surface that helps reduce resistance as the suit moves through the water, while also making the smooth-skin material easier to put on and remove.

Different areas of the suit use different neoprene thicknesses and constructions because flexibility, buoyancy and thermal protection are not equally important across the body. The result is a strategically constructed suit that supports a more efficient swim-roll technique, rather than encouraging a flat swimming position.

The highly flexible Yamamoto #40 neoprene is used across the arms, shoulders, back and ankle sections, allowing greater freedom of movement where it matters most during the stroke. The remainder of the suit uses lightweight and soft #39 neoprene for a comfortable, flexible fit.

Advanced Buoyancy with Aerodome
The Marlin's core panel uses 5.0mm Aerodome Yamamoto SCS neoprene, extending from the knees across the front of the thighs and around the hips, buttocks and lower abdomen.

Aerodome incorporates evenly positioned air holes within the rubber layer. These trapped air pockets reduce material weight while increasing buoyancy and helping to retain heat. In the Marlin, the buoyant core section is designed to help raise the swimmer's hips and legs in the water, encouraging a more efficient body position and promoting hip rotation through the stroke.

The Aerodome construction is claimed to provide 20–30% greater buoyancy than standard neoprene materials, helping to reduce drag caused by a sinking lower body.

Ti-Alpha Thermal Insulation
Thermal protection is provided through Ti-Alpha, a titanium alloy layer positioned between the outer neoprene and inner lining.

The metallic layer is designed to reflect body heat back towards the swimmer rather than allowing it to escape rapidly into the surrounding water. The torso and calf areas benefit from this technology, helping to improve thermal insulation during cold-water swimming. Ti-Alpha offers heat reflectivity of approximately 25–40%, depending on the construction.

Designed for Triathlon Transitions
Every part of the Marlin has been considered with race-day practicality in mind. Instead of conventional elastic wrist cuffs, the forearms feature long-taped internal seams, allowing the cuff length to be trimmed to achieve a more personalised fit.

The 2.0mm Yamamoto #40 neoprene used around the cuffs and lower calves is highly flexible, making the suit easier and faster to remove during a transition. The lower calf section can also be trimmed to suit the individual swimmer.
A YKK® zip with a long puller and Velcro fastening allows straightforward entry and removal, while the protective internal zip flap helps improve comfort against the skin.

The bright blue shoulder and arm panels provide increased visibility in open water, while the low-profile collar and flexible shoulder construction help maximise comfort during long swims.

Yamamoto #39 & #40 Neoprene
The Marlin combines lightweight Yamamoto #39 with highly flexible #40 neoprene. #40 is strategically used across the arms, shoulders, back and ankle sections to maximise flexibility during the swimming stroke.
Super Composite Skin (SCS)
The SCS coating creates a smooth, hydrodynamic outer surface designed to reduce water resistance. Its specialised surface structure also helps the wetsuit slide on and off more easily, supporting faster transitions.
5.0mm Aerodome Core
The core panel uses 5.0mm Aerodome neoprene containing evenly distributed air pockets. These increase buoyancy while reducing material weight and helping retain heat, supporting a higher hip and leg position in the water.
Ti-Alpha Thermal Layer
A titanium alloy layer is incorporated into the torso and calf sections to reflect body heat back towards the swimmer. This helps reduce heat loss when swimming in colder open water.
Swim-Roll Body Position
The different neoprene constructions have been strategically positioned to support a more efficient swim-roll technique. Increased buoyancy through the hips and legs helps encourage a streamlined position while allowing the swimmer to rotate naturally through each stroke.
Flexible Shoulder & Arm Construction
Highly flexible #40 neoprene across the arms and shoulders allows unrestricted movement through the swimming stroke, helping reduce fatigue and maintain efficient technique.
Trimmable Cuffs & Lower Calves
Long-taped internal seams allow the forearm and calf openings to be trimmed to the desired length. This provides a more personalised fit while making the suit easier to remove during triathlon transitions.
2.0mm Quick-Release Sections
The cuffs and lower calf sections use flexible 2.0mm #40 neoprene, making it easier to pull the suit over the hands and heels when putting it on or removing it.
Race-Ready Construction
Triple glued and taped seams provide a secure, durable construction, while the YKK® zip, long puller, Velcro fastening and protective inner zip flap make the suit practical for training and competition.
Open-Water Visibility
Bright blue shoulder and arm panels improve visibility in open-water environments, helping swimmers stand out more clearly against the surrounding water.


The Science Behind the Marlin

SCS – Super Composite Skin
A hydrodynamic coating applied to the smooth neoprene surface. It helps reduce friction and water resistance while making the wetsuit easier to put on and remove.
Aerodome
Air pockets incorporated into the neoprene increase buoyancy and thermal insulation while reducing material weight. In the Marlin, this technology is concentrated around the lower body to help lift the hips and legs.
Ti-Alpha
A titanium alloy layer designed to reflect body heat back towards the swimmer. This helps improve thermal insulation and reduce heat loss in colder water.
Yamamoto #40
A highly flexible neoprene selected for areas requiring maximum freedom of movement, including the arms, shoulders and back.


History & Heritage

The Marlin isn't a completely new concept — it is the latest evolution of a wetsuit with a proven history in competitive swimming.
The original Marlin design was used by leading athletes in the early 2000s, including Faris Al Sultan, who won the 2005 Ford Ironman Kona World Championship, and Christof Wandratsch, who set the then-world record for the fastest swim of the English Channel in 2005.
The latest generation takes this established foundation and combines it with modern Yamamoto neoprene, SCS, Aerodome and Ti-Alpha technologies to create a contemporary suit designed for today's triathletes and open-water swimmers.

When you go to the online checkout, you can opt to collect your items in store. We'll let you know when your order is ready for you to collect. Your order will normally be ready to collect the next working day.

Returns, refunds or exchanges?

You can return any item within 28 days of receipt for a refund, provided the item is unused, in its original packaging and in 'as new' condition.

Items will be refunded in full (less postage) if received within 28 days from the date of despatch.
