Specialist Rescue Equipment in Indianapolis

Posted 05/04/2019

It's nearly time for North America's leading fire and rescue conference.

FDIC, the Fire Department Instructor's Conference, is held over six days in Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil stadium.

More than 34,000 fire and rescue professionals attend the event, which offers training, equipment demonstrations and exhibit halls filled with over 800 companies, as well as a ceremonial honour guard competition and memorial 9/11 stair climb, amongst other sections of the programme.

The stair climb is undertaken by many of the attendees, who will walk or climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in memory of the firefighters who lost their lives on 11th September 2001.

Northern Diver first exhibited at FDIC last year. It proved to be successful for us, and Craig and Dan from the team are now getting ready to head to Indianapolis for this year's show.

Our key products at FDIC 2019...

Drysuits

Drysuit manufacturing is how Northern Diver began over 40 years ago.

Like diving drysuits, rescue drysuits are one of our specialties. Our array of suits at FDIC will include the bespoke suits we produce for the London Fire Brigade, Suffolk Fire and Rescue and HM Coastguard, as well as our off-the-shelf Storm F4 model and Thor contaminated water drysuit.

Inflatables

Our range of inflatables covers boats, sleds, rafts, walkways, life boards and rescue tubes, all available in countless specifications.

Visitors to our stand will be able to see the RR3 and RR4 sled, life board and two metre air track.

PFDs and SOLAS approved 275N lifejacket

Our Evo Pro 6 personal flotation device (PFD) is currently going through US Coast Guard approval and will feature alongside the Evo Pro 5 and Evo X.

In a similar vein, we're pleased to be showcasing a lifejacket from our range that's approved by the International Convention for the Safety of Lives at Sea (SOLAS).

We've also gained SOLAS approval for one of our Transit Suits, part of our product range developed for boating operations and offshore industries. View the SOLAS approved Transit Suit here.

Reach poles

These extendable/retractable reach poles are available in maximum lengths of 4.5, 6, 9 and 15 metres - see them all plus their attachment options on our stand.

Dry Seal roll top bags

Our latest range of dry bags, which we developed a new watertight seal for.

These bags are available in 10, 20, 50 and 120 litre capacities and are complete with an air purge valve and a shoulder strap in addition to the top-mounted carry handle.

New at the show: Flexi-Light V2

The new, upgraded version of our revolutionary alternative to chemical light sticks.

These flexible eight lumen LED light sticks were originally developed for military use and have three modes: 'high', 'low' and 'flashing'. This is controlled via a simple button that also switches the light on and off (as opposed to conventional 'snap' light sticks, which stay on until they're spent).

The Flexi-Light V2 is depth rated to 100 metres, visible up to three kilometres away and has a burn time of up to 42 hours. They're available in five colours, plus infrared, and have several extra attachment options too.

Looking to past shows, these lights are sure to draw a crowd...

To all those attending, we hope to see you at the show!
