Underwater Intervention

Posted 11/02/2019

Neil and Nathan from Northern Diver's Commercial and Offshore team have just returned from Underwater Intervention (UI) 2019.

The commercial diving and submersibles led event is held in New Orleans, USA, a port city located near to the Mississippi delta and the Gulf of Mexico, an active region for commercial diving and subsea operations.

UI brings together many of the industry's manufacturers and innovators in the exhibit hall, where the latest in commercial diver apparel and equipment, manned underwater vehicles (MUVs), remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and unmanned untethered vehicles (UTVs) are on show and generating plenty of buzz!

The event attracts significant international attention, and it was great to meet with clients from around the world, showcase the latest from Northern Diver's commercial arm and gain valuable insight from distributors and customers on their new challenges and arising product needs.

Northern Diver products at UI

The Evolution 8 Hotwater Suit is widely regarded as an industry leader. We were pleased to receive more excellent feedback on this item and meet prospective new clients making enquiries about it too.

We promoted our latest R-Vest design, which also drew strong interest. The R-Vest combines a recovery harness with a weight belt (quick-release), cylinder attachment point and tool-carrying working vest.

Visitors were also driven towards the Thor contaminated diving suit range and the innovative Dry Glove Ring System, which can be worn in combination with the Thor.

As well as the bustling exhibit hall, UI hosts think tanks on industry developments. One intriguing topic from this year was the emergence of artificial intelligence in the subsea industry and its possible future development.

The event also holds tutorials aimed at those working in subsea organisations in certain capacities, such as newly-qualified professionals, project managers and executive managers. These tutorials are delivered by experts and equally appeal to manufacturers.

It's easy to see why UI is such a significant event in the global subsea calendar. As with all of our key events, we're looking forward to next time and to more great discussion.
